X

street photo of an X in a street structure captured by Ramon Trotman

In the heart of the city, where the hum of life never falters, there lies an unassuming crossroads guarded by the great iron sentinel—a bridge with bones of steel, painted in a faded hue that whispers of ages past. Here, symmetry reigns supreme; the grand X of the structure stands as a testament to human ingenuity, a cross-stitch in the fabric of urban existence.

It's at this very spot where I found myself setting up for the day's street photography session. The X, a junction not just of metal but of lives and stories, drew me in. With my camera in hand, I waited for the mundane miracles of daily life to unfold. The contrasting colors of rust against the soft sky seemed to beckon the very essence of the city to this spot.

And then it happened—a solitary figure, small against the might of the structure, stepped into frame. His shadow kissed the ground beneath the crisscrossed girders, and for a moment, everything aligned—the symmetry, the colors, and the heartbeat of the street. Click. The shutter closed, a fraction of a second in time, preserved forever. This image, with its stark lines and contrasting palettes, became the hero of my collection, a single narrative in the anthology of the streets.
